As a member you'll get the following benefits:

  • Access to the members rota, where you can add your name to join sailing sessions from April to September for up river sails towards Tower Bridge, down river sails towards Greenwich, informal races and training exercises.
  • Option to join additional member sailing sessions on selected weekends and evenings.

  • Opportunities to develop your skills and get RYA qualified completing RYA Level 3, RYA Seamanship Skills, Power Boat Level 2 and Safety Boat courses


Shadwell Sailing Club is run by its members on an entirely voluntary basis. Our mission is to get more people sailing on the Thames. All members agree to help out with key duties and tasks to fulfil our mission. This includes:

  • Being willing to help: getting trained for winch duty, helping rig and put boats away.
  • Regularly participating in member duties such as beachmaster, crewing in the RIB, maintenance days.
  • Helping running the RYA courses.
  • Getting competent and confident to helm and take others out, including on taster sessions.
